Busy Week

Lots of fun happening around here this week. Austen and Cooper started VBS tonight at the church where Cooper attends preschool. I was a little worried that Austen may not have too much fun because it is a small church and there were only about 30 kids enrolled. He is used to Trietsch, where there are hundreds of kiddoes. This was Cooper's first time at Vacation Bible School. Also, it is at night, so again, a whole different experience.

Well, they just got home and they were both on cloud 9! Austen was the first to say how awesome it was and Cooper was equally excited! It turns out that they do not group the kids by age so my guys got to be in the same group. They loved that. They brought home beautiful wind socks for me to hang in the kitchen too!

Something funny--- When I dropped them off, the coordinator handed me the sheet with the supplies they will need for some of the projects this week; a plain T-shirt and a pringles can, as well as the list of items for their mission projects. They are collecting a dollar from each child to send flowers to a sick member, and sheets and dog food for a local dog shelter...and they are making goody bags for the AA members who use their church for meetings.Hmmmm... I thought that was great, but I am going to let the teachers explain that one. I am just not sure how to approach the subject of Alcoholics Anonymous with my 4 year old in particular (smile). I gathered all the supplies while they were gone so they can all get turned in tomorrow. We are contributing hard candy and chewing gum for the meeting folks. Phew!

Austen starts basketball camp tomorrow. He is way excited about it! I am hoping the coach will be able to help us find a fun, not too competitive league for him to join in the fall.

Cooper wants to play a sport or something but doesn't know what, so we are looking into a sports/gym class for him that would start after labor Day. He is taking a trial class on Wednesday at The Little Gym. We'll see what he thinks.

We checked out the new Health and Athletic Center that we were planning on joining the other day. It is great and has all the classes and sports for the kids as well as a great pool/water park and workout facility. It is a lot like Lifetime Fitness back home...but it is MUCHO dinero!!!! There is no way we can swing that. That is why we are now looking into these other alternatives for the boys. We had just thought we would join and get into all their programs. They charge for the sports, but the prices for those were not too outrageous...apparently becasue their membership fees are insane!

Tomorrow night is Silly Hat Day at VBS, Austen is already working on something for it, so I will have to post a pic tomorrow. G'night! XOXOXO kc

Oh- Next week the boys are going to a different VBS at a church we are going to be visiting this Sunday. I am really excited about it because it has lots of youth and children's programs. I'll let ya know more about it as it gets closer.

"so today...we are going to make goody bags for a bunch of alcholics...if you can please refrain from putting rum in the bag, that would be great. Also - in your card, try not to reference drinking, drugs, bars or dance clubs....good luck coopy."
