Woo Hoo! Chris gave me the day off today! He took all 3 boys to Linvilla Orchard to pick fruits and corn, I think. I picked up a little around here, but mostly I have been lazy and enjoying the QUIET. I love my hubby!
I was starting to feel a little guilty about not spending this beautiful day with my family, but I was quickly reassured. Let me tell you what I just saw on TV. I was watching a rerun of Sunset tan that I have not seen before and a woman brought in her 8 year old daughter to tan for her school pictures. The mom said she looked a little pale last year, okay I am not overly judgemental and I love to tan.I've even been known to put SPF 15 on my boys instead of 30 so they brown a bit, but not a fan of tanning kids in a tanning bed...yikes! It got worse. They put the little girl (who said she wanted to look like Lindsey Lohan)in a high pressure bed for 10 minutes and then did a spray on tan after that. This whole process and the 5 lotions the guy talked her into buying cost $1200.00. Unbelievable! and the poor baby...was ORANGE.
Now I don't feel so bad about having a selfish day.
Last night Aussie spent the night at church making casseroles for a local soup kitchen. It was his first mission project and he had somuch fun. I think the moms who ran it were good at talking about what they were doing and why with the kids. Austen and I had spent a lot of talking about it. He is a compassionate kid.
Last night before all that I had to take Austen to Kmart to get a sleeping bag and a few other necessities for Camp next week. Cooper really wanted to come so I sat him down and explained that this shopping trip was "all about Austen" and I wasn't going to buy anything for Coop this time.If he could work with that he was welcome to shop with us. He was agreeable to the terms and was a good boy at the store.
Well, knife to the heart this morning...the first words out of Cooper's mouth this morning were, "Is today all about Austen too?" ouch! He has been working so hard lately at making good choices and checking with me frequently to see if he has been a "good boy".I think this week will be a good time for him. He will get some extra attention while big brother is away at camp.
