Oh What a Weekend!

I have the best husband ever! I had soooo much fun this weekend in Philly! it is something I want to do twice a year from now on. So, that means I want the same thing for my b'day (smile). Coop was the only one that was not too thriilled by the idea of me being gone for a bit. After asking me tons of questions about where I was going and why, and asking why kids were not allowed, he finally sort of came to terms with it all. But he kept asking, "But why do you have to be at the grown up lady hotel for two months, Mommy?" I did everything I know to do to help him understand that two nights is not the same as two months...but it didn't quite take....oh well.

When Chris got home from work on Friday, I was all ready and packed so I kissed everyone adios and hit the road. (big road trip...45 minutes) I ate Mc donald's in the car to save the budget. Once I checked in, I went down to the bar and got a nice glass of wine and headed back up to my room on the 22nd floor. I was there a little bit before I opened the curtains and I was so happy with the view! I was at eye level with the big clock on the historic City Hall Building. You know the one, It has the founding father;s statues on top and a big steeple. It was in the first National Treasure movie. So Cool!!! I also looked out over Broad St. and all of the hustle and bustle. The holiday decorations were still up so everything looked so pretty! I loved being up so high and seeing all the apartment buildings. City life fascinates me. I wanted a pair of binoculars so I could see how the different apts. were decorated (smile).

I watched a movie that night and did some organizing of paperwork I had been meaning to do.That doesn't sound like a treat, but I had papers to spread all about and it was great to know it wouldn't be disturbed by little hands. I also dyed my hair, , nothing fancy, just covering my gray. I love the water pressure in nice hotels. I was planning in my head where I wanteed to start exploring on Saturday.

Saturday I walked and walked and walked! I shopped the whole city, from Rittenhouse Square to the Market Street area, which was a bit shady and connected to the subway..hmmm. I was in the biggest Banana Republic I ever saw and went throouh H & M . I always see that store on "What Not To Wear", but had never shopped there. Cute clothes and awesome prices!Oh- I also passed by a demonstration of the Black Panthers...scary! They were giving a white guy a hard time as I passed in front of them...like between them and the audience that had formed. Yikes! My dad would have had a heart attack if he had known..guess he does now, Sorry Dad! But I did make sure to return to the hotel before dark as promised. (He was not so thrilled with the idea of me in the city with the highest murder rate in the country all alone...so I made some promises) It was an awesome day! I did lots of window shopping, as my current bidget didn't allow me to take much home, but I did splurge and get a book and some cards from my favorite stationery store, Papyrus. I had a Starbucks gift cards I used for breakfast and for afternoon coffee (much needed). That night I read my whole book and ordered creme brulee (my absolute favorite ever dessert) from room service. I slept past 11 am yesterday and asked for a late checkout...I didn't want to leave my little haven. On the way home I stopped by Kohls to use a gift card from my mom and replace my broken sunglasses.

By 4pm, when I arrived home I was sooo missing all my guys! It was awesome to get hugs and kisses from them welcoming me home! They had a super boys weekend. Austen was busy with a sleepover and another playdate with another friend, so Chris mostly had the little boys to entertain...and he did entertain them! There is a K'nex Ferris Wheel on my dining room table that looks like it was a major feat to assemble. He also did all the laundry and changed sheets and stuff...jealous? (smile)

All in all, my weekend was so relaxing and beneficial. I needed to have a bit of me time and I enjoyed every second of it (even though I called home a total of eight time). I am so thankful to have Chris, who not only made it happen, but was okay with me wanting to get away alone. I don't think all hubbies would be okay with that kind of thing.

I hae something funny to post that I found on another blog, it will have to be later becasue I need to feed these short people. Hope y'all had as much fun this weekend as me! XOXO
