Yes, as I write, it is 1:24 in the morning. I just finished a crazy tournament of Parchesi with Austen. We started out with a tournament (set of three games, best out of three) just for fun. Then he wanted a rematch with a bet. So we decided that the loser had to clean his bathroom. Yippee! I won! So the 10 year old self proclaimed 'tween' was not too happy. He decided to raise the stakes. So we added a couple of things and I won that tournament too. I never win aganst him, well, maybe every fourth game or so I do. He has great strategies and is a fun and capable competitor. So we played several tournaments over the course of the last few hours. I may be a terrible mother for letting him stay up so late, but we had a nice quality time together. This is our bonding activity. And as a bonus, he has to clean his bathroom and we are getting donuts for breakfast and he is going to entertain his brothers for 1 hour tomorrow while I do my "stuff" around here. Woo Hoo! (Even though he didn't win his Pokemon card deck, I may still pick it up for him and give him a prize for being a good sport). I am not totally cruel (smile)
Okay, now I need to get my bootie to bed becasue we are going berry pickin' tomorrow morning. Sweet Dreams to all!!!! XOXOXOX

Good Morning, Kaycee!
This note really hit home for me! We are famous for marathon runs of board and card games.(the kids especially love "phase 10"....it's a must have!)
You are so right....it is fabulous bonding time! There is usually a game of sorry or monopoly waiting on a table because someone was too tired to finish. :o) Danny usually bows out because the rest of us go for blood....especially Matt....sounds like he and Austen are cut from the same cloth.
I can remember my Dad initiating the games.....he loved to teach you the rules and then beat you "fair and square"! I can also remember playing many rounds of scrabble or rummy with your Mom...must be a Sweeney thing! :o)
Thanks for the smiles this morning!!! You have sparked me to grab some extra cards&games to bring up to Kennebunkport....also, I have to think of meaty incentive bets for winners!(sweeping the sand out of the cottage might be a good place to start!) We leave today for 3wks....Yahoo!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend! Should be a nice day for berry pickin'!
Hugs and kisses to everyone!
All my love,
Jan
That is so fun! I am also really suprised that you beat him - he is really good!!!!
